Passport photo size calculator
At 300 DPI, a 35 x 45 mm photo is 413 x 531 pixels and a 2 x 2 inch photo is 600 x 600 pixels. Pixels = millimetres ÷ 25.4 × DPI, or inches × DPI.
Millimetres describe a print, pixels describe a file — the conversion between them depends on the print resolution. Set a size and DPI below, or pick a document preset. When an authority publishes an exact pixel size (the DV lottery wants precisely 600 × 600), that published figure wins over any conversion.
602 × 602 px
51 × 51 mm at 300 DPI — about 0.4 megapixels.
How many pixels is each passport and visa photo?
The print pixel column is the conversion at 300 DPI, the resolution photo labs print at. The digital column is the file size the authority's own form publishes, where one exists.

Common questions
413 x 531 pixels. Divide each side in millimetres by 25.4 to get inches, then multiply by the DPI. At 600 DPI the same photo is 827 x 1063 pixels.
600 x 600 pixels at 300 DPI (inches times DPI). Uploads follow their own published size instead: the DS-160 takes 600 x 600 to 1200 x 1200 pixels, and the DV lottery exactly 600 x 600.
Because an online form sets its own pixel limits, which are not a conversion of the print. The UK online passport service asks for at least 600 x 750 pixels, while a 35 x 45 mm print at 300 DPI converts to 413 x 531. When a form publishes a pixel size, that figure wins.
