I'm Antoine Duno, an independent developer. I design, build and test The Passport Photo Maker myself, and I write every requirements guide published here. I also build Bullynx, a chart-analysis tool for traders.
This started with a rejected photo. A passport application sent back over a shadow on a wall costs weeks, and the fix — a crop, an even background, a head at the right height — is something software does better than a photo booth. So I built the tool that checks the rules before you pay, instead of after an office says no.
There is no team behind this, no call center and no agency. If something on this site is wrong, it's my mistake, and you can write to me at hello@thepassportphotomaker.com.
How these guides are written
Passport photo advice is full of copied blog posts that quote rules from ten years ago. Here is the standard this site holds itself to.
Every measurement comes from the issuing authority
Sizes, head heights, background rules and expression rules are taken from the published specification of the authority that issues the document — the U.S. Department of State, HM Passport Office, the Schengen states and so on. Guides link to that source so you can check it yourself.
Each guide carries the date it was last checked
Requirements change: the U.S. banned glasses in 2016 and moved most renewals online. When a rule changes, the guide and the tool's checks are updated together, and the date at the top of the page tells you how fresh it is.
The checks are tested against real photos
The crop, head-height and background checks are run against photos taken in ordinary rooms with ordinary phones, including the bad ones: side light, glasses, tilted heads, patterned walls. If a check can't be trusted, it doesn't ship.
You see the result before you pay
The check is free. You only pay when the photo passes and you download it. If the office handling your application rejects the photo, send us the notice and you get your money back.
What this service is not
The Passport Photo Maker is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by the U.S. Department of State, HM Passport Office or any other government agency, and it can't submit, approve or speed up an application. Only the authority that issues your document decides whether a photo is accepted. Nothing here is legal or immigration advice.
